Keep that nose warm, too!

I have been working exclusively in black and white lately, but I thought I would dazzle you all with a bit of colour this time. Are you dazzled?

I probably won't be posting much more for the remainder of this year. With Christmas just around the corner, I need to start training for the marathon of food consumption that occurs every year at this time. I would hate to waste even a single bite of my Mom's delicious Christmas dinner and treats!

After Christmas, the fruits of my loins will be off school for two weeks. As a result, things will be a bit nutty here at Jason Curtis World Headquarters. At the very least, I will be nutty. I'm not sure how much time I'll have to sit at my drawing table. Stay tuned though folks, there will be plenty of fun stuff happening here in 2017.

Merry Christmas everyone!

Rolling

Poor Mr. Square. He will never feel the adrenaline rush of rolling down a hill. Then again, he will also never feel the pain that Mr. Circle experienced when he rolled into traffic and was run over by a city bus, a mini van, and finally by an elderly lady on her motorized mobility scooter.

I'm still sick

My winter plague continues, seemingly unimpeded. What chance do I have when my inattentive immune system is eating a sandwich instead of waging war against the germs that want to do me harm?

The man in the mountain

I'd be quite content to live in a cozy home inside the top of a mountain. I suppose the only real downside would be carrying the groceries up 27,257 steps.

'Tis the season

'Tis the season for fluffy white snow, hot chocolate, warm comfort food...and germs. My four year old son brought home some type of plague from school last week, and he was kind enough to share it with the rest of the family. Thanks, son! I'm feeling like a piece of crap that was crapped on. That's double crappy. So this is all you're getting today folks, sorry.

A gassy gnome

After making reference to a farting gnome in my drawing yesterday, a few of my fart-obsessed Facebook friends requested that I actually draw one. It's not every day that I'm asked to draw a flatulent gnome, so I couldn't resist. The ridiculously talented Mike Lynch suggested that I use the "Poot!" sound effect. I hope it's all that you imagined it would be, Mike.

Looks like that fart was a real bark burner.

I can't relate to this in any way of course...I just heard a rumour that some artists feel like this from time to time.

Hair

I saw this guy yesterday. There were two things that impressed me. The first thing was the sheer volume of hair on this dude's head. Secondly, it was an extremely windy day yet not a single solitary hair was out of place.

Sandwich art

Yesterday I posted a drawing which featured a sandwich, and for whatever reason, today's drawing includes a sandwich as well.

Maybe sandwich art is my niche market?

Fish like sandwiches

I spent the last few days with my grandmother in the hospital. I find the hospital environment to be such a depressing one, especially when you have to spend long hours there. To keep my mind from drifting to gloomy thoughts, I drew happy little pictures while sitting at my grandmother's bedside.

Here's a happy guy feeding a sandwich to a happy fish.

Sandwich in the saddle

I'm not sure why the guy on the horse (is that even a horse?) is eating a sandwich, or why the horse (seriously, is that supposed to be a horse?) is wearing dress shoes and socks, but there's one thing I do know for sure...I am now craving a sandwich.

Hilltop

I wonder what he's looking at from his hilltop perch? A pretty girl on a nearby hilltop perhaps?

Maybe they're in love. They each live on a hilltop but are separated by the Valley of Hot Bubbling Cheese. Their desire to be together is strong, yet the Valley of Hot Bubbling Cheese is impassable. A tragic love story.

That idea just tumbled from my brain right now as I'm typing, but I think I smell a bestseller! I also smell cheese.

A drawing duck

I call this masterpiece, "Duck drawing duck."

Let's start the bidding at $125,000.

I may go into hiding for the rest of this week. I have a number of commissions that I want to finish within the next few days so I probably won't be posting again until next week.

A quick doodle

I was working on a comic to post today, but when it was finished I couldn't decide whether I liked it or not. I'll distance myself from it and approach it with a fresh mind in a couple of days.

Left with nothing to post today, I quickly drew this strange looking fellow.

Clark

I've been tweaking brushes in Procreate in an attempt to personalize one to my liking. I was pleased with the look and feel of this particular brush, so I drew Clark the deranged office worker.

Dawn of the digital age

I am now the proud owner of a new 12.9" iPad Pro. An Apple Pencil too, of course.

I have been pondering this decision for over a year. My main reason for moving from traditional media to digital is because it will make the creative process so much easier. As everyone knows, with digital, all you need to do is click the "draw good" button and bad drawings are a thing of the past. It's a real time saver.

I have only had this beast of an iPad for a couple of days now, so I have much to learn. For those of you that are interested, I drew this using Procreate. This is the program I have chosen to use exclusively. My quick little doodle here doesn't do the program (or the iPad Pro) any justice...but man oh man am I excited about what I'll be able to do with this combo once I get comfortable with it.

Cubeman

This morning you were probably all thinking, "I bet Jason will post an awesome drawing today because he's had all weekend to come up with something great!"

You're right, I did have all weekend to create an amazing piece of art, but instead, I drew this.

Frank and Clark

I have absolutely no idea why I drew this or what it means. Perhaps if I sat down and thought about it for long enough I could come up with an interesting story...but that's not going to happen. My apologies to Frank and Clark.

Fowl behaviour

Criminal activity among ducks is on the rise. The root of the problem is that the unemployment rate within the duck community is 100%. If you're a business owner, I urge you to please consider hiring a duck. The streets, and parks, will be safer as a result.

Lumberjack

I'm not entirely sure what this little-headed big-bodied thing is...he's almost human, but not quite. What I do know is that his name is Leon and he spends his days chopping down trees. If you want to know anything about what it's like to be a lumberjack, just axe him.

My relationship with art

During these last few days I have struggled mightily to draw anything that doesn't completely suck. Time and again I would finish inking a drawing and initially be pleased with the result, but then I would quickly come to the realization that what I had created was actually a complete and utter piece of steamy poop.

My relationship with art is a complicated one.

Sometimes my drawings confuse me. I wonder why the heads are even talking, it's not like the headless man has any ears to hear them with. Hmm?

Anyway, which head would you choose?

A true story

This comic is based on actual events. Yesterday I saw a dog in it's yard yapping away incessantly. It suddenly hacked up something, paused ever so briefly, and then continued to bark as if nothing had happened.
