Black and Blue

I had a black Bic pen, a blue Bic pen, a notebook, and about 60 spare seconds. This is the result.

His name is Lou, and he's a private investigator. He wears cheap suits and even cheaper cologne. Lou will never back down from a fight (unless the other guy is bigger). He likes his women fast and his cars even faster, unfortunately all he can afford is women that used to be fast and a car that never was.

For 60 seconds, this is wonderful as always! I know you're busy with life, photography and populating the earth with children, but I would LOVE to see you illustrate a scene someday. Two or more characters interacting in a setting with a background (I bet a Jason Curtis cityscape would be amazing) and maybe an actual female! Your cartoon character portraits are absolutely incredible, but on your journey to becoming the world's most famous children's book illustrator ever, it would be great if you had pieces in your portfolio that show you can illustrate a story!

Insane for 60 seconds. I like the use of the blue. Awesome, Jason!

That lady must've gone in 60 seconds too. Nice one JC!

Chris - I couldn't agree with you more. I'm pretty much a one-trick pony. I can doodle characters but find it difficult to draw overall scenes. This is where my limited artistic abilities feel a bit overwhelming to me.

To be fair though, I really haven't dedicated any time to practicing. I barely have enough time in my day to whip up one quick doodle, let alone think of an actual concept, plan it out, and illustrate it.

I have some decisions to make if I want to pursue cartooning in any serious manner. Thanks so much for your input, I appreciate it.

Everyone else - Thanks!
