I recently bought the book "Peanuts: The Art of Charles M. Schulz". Among other things, there are some wonderful photographs of his original pencil sketches which are a real treat to look at. For Schulz fans, this book is definitely worth a looksy.
Anyway, I found myself doodling Charlie Brown in my sketchbook, well, my version of Charlie Brown.

Hahaha I love the one with his mouth open.
Schulz's drawings are so awesome. Such nice line quality. He makes it look so simple.
good grief is right!...poor charlie brown-doesn't he have enough rejection in his life, and now he's got those teeth to deal with?!!...really funny, jason-it would be fun to see your version of the whole peanuts gang!
I have the same book! Isn't it great. I like your rendition.
Voz - Yes, Schulz was great. His style looks so simple and his characters so easy to draw, but if you really take the time to study his work you realize what an incredible artist he was. I love the fact that there's never any clutter in his panels.
I've been a fan since I was a wee little lad...most nights I went to sleep dreaming of becoming the next Charles Schulz. When I heard that he had passed away it hit me hard. I think a part of me thought he'd do that strip forever.
Michael - Thanks. I think I've done enough damage though...I'm sure Schulz would turn over in his grave if I drew more of the Peanuts gang!
Robert - Yes, great book. I keep going back to all the pencil sketches...they're just soooo good.
I like your version of Charlie Brown, looks like he has issues with self confidence just like the original fellow.
This is GREAT!
Justdoodleit - I'd certainly have self confidence issues if I looked like this!
Chelsea - Thanks so much!
